Pressure Vessel Pressure Class Division

Oct 27, 2025
Posted By: Peter

The pressure class is a classification standard used to measure the magnitude of pressure that an object or system can withstand In different fields, there are different ways of dividing pressure classes based on different standards.

1. Pressure class division of gas pressure vessels

2. Safety Technical Supervision Regulations for Fixed Pressure Vessels": This is an important safety technical specification for fixed pressure vessels in China. According to the design pressure (p gas pressure vessels are divided into four grades.

Low pressure (L) vessel, 0.1MPa≤p<1.6MPa;

pressure (M) vessel, 1.6MPa≤p<10.0MPa;

High pressure (H) vessel, 10.MPa≤p<100.0MPa;

Ultra-high pressure (U) vessel, p≥100.0MPa.

division is mainly based on the safety management needs of pressure vessels. Different pressure classes correspond to different safety technical requirements and regulatory measures.
